The meeting started with a review and discussion about gasket materials and glues. The favourite seems to be Hylomar, available from various sources. A versatile glue family called Goop was also highlighted.
Several models were introduced or updates given on progress.
A Rudy Kouhoupt reversing steam engine is also progressing well. It might be running in time for next meeting.
A member is using PVC planking material from a building supplier to test CNC tool paths. The surface finish is quite smooth. Low cost and easy to glue up into thicker layers.
A member brought in materials and tools for making small gaskets, We were invited to try it out during the break.
Advice was sought on repairing a broken casting on the work-head mount of a 1920’s Cincinnati Tool & Cutter grinder. The best approach seems to be using a should bolt instead of trying to solder or glue the piece back on.
